Easy Makeup Tips For When You’re On The Go
With the new year in swing, everyone is getting right down to business on his or her New Year’s resolutions. Whether it’s working on your fitness, getting more involved in the community, or cleaning and re-organizing your home, you’re busy! All this running around leaves little time for makeup.
But, when you’re in a jam to get out the door, there ARE some simple makeup tricks that save you time and give you a fresh face for other important events in your schedule. Especially if you’re the person that is always late no matter how hard you try (guilty as charged), these tips are lifesavers!
Mascara & Lipstick
Sweeping your lashes with a thicker coating of mascara takes you from tired to bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Even without eyeliner, mascara accentuates and draws attention to your eyes. A bold lip – like red, plum, or pink – also creates the illusion that you put a lot of effort into your look, despite the fact that the only other thing you might be wearing is mascara. It can take you from “I just woke up 10 minutes ago” to “Yes, I am going to an award show later” in 60 seconds.
Tend To Your Brows
These days, everyone is obsessed with having thick brows. That doesn’t mean they should go ungroomed. Filling in your brows and ensuring they’re cleaned up makes a world of difference in framing your face and opening up your eyes. Fill in your brows with a pencil, then apply a gel to keep them in place. Add some mascara, and you’ll be good to go!
Prime & Conceal
Primer is a quick, sure-fire way to prep your skin for makeup and helps your foundation settle into your skin, eliminating the need for reapplication. It also helps even out your skin, so even if you don’t have time to dab on foundation, your skin will still appear fresh and put together. If you have dark circles, adding a simple under eye concealer helps you look more awake. You’ll also feel reassured that your dark circles are not bringing down other makeup you’ve put on.
Be reasonable. There’s no need to skip a meal or a shower in favor of full-on makeup. Take your shower, dry your hair, eat breakfast, and focus on makeup elements that you would feel naked without putting on. If you don’t feel complete without a full brow, start there and know when to stop. Forgo unnecessary extras to save time, but bring some with you in case you do have a couple of spare minutes when you arrive at your destination. However, if you don’t, you’ll still be pleased with your appearance.
Keeping up with personal hygiene is also key to providing your face with a healthy, solid foundation on which to put makeup. Skimping on your skincare routine will do you more harm than good in the end: the presence of oils and dirt promotes blemishes, which do not make for easy makeup application.
Make A Last-Minute Appointment
If you’ve got a significant event coming up that you completely forgot about, you know you won’t have time to prepare for, and are petrified of doing your makeup incorrectly, book a last-minute appointment for a makeover! You’re paying for more than makeup. You’re paying for peace of mind. You’ll receive the look you want (and can’t duplicate at home) from professionals who get it right the first time. You’ll leave feeling confident and with plenty of time to put together the rest of your look.
